About Us
“I have a couple questions….”
Do you have services for my kids?
YES! We have a staffed nursery for both Sunday School & Worship Hour for children from 0-2 years. We have age-based Sunday School classes from ages 3 to Senior High teens. During Worship Hour we have Junior Church for all kids up through third grade. The first Sunday of each month is Family Sunday and all the kids stay upstairs for Worship Hour as we give our teachers a break. We also offer an active Jr/Sr High Youth Group that meets weekly on Sunday evenings!
What are your typical Sunday Services like?
We have fellowship time beginning at 9 AM, where we gather for light refreshments, coffee, tea, etc. and to simply visit with each other. Sunday School begins at 930 AM and we have classes for all ages of children, and have multiple adult classes from topical instruction to expository teaching. At 10:30 we begin Worship Hour with some announcements, and singing a mix of standard hymns and contemporary worship songs. This is followed by Communion and Offering, then we receive a weekly message of encouragement from Pastor Jerry. We dismiss at 11:30 AM.
How would you describe your approach to teaching & preaching?
All of our teaching and preaching begins and ends in God’s Word, the Holy Bible. We approach all questions and struggles in life from the perspective presented in God’s Bible. Sometimes, we come at this topically, like a Sunday School class on how to handle our finances according to what God has instructed us to do. Sometimes, we read directly from the Word (expository approach) and work through what it’s like to apply God’s Word to our daily life. But it all begins and ends with the Bible at JCC.
I’m not sure I even believe in God, or maybe I believe in Him, but I sure don’t understand Him. Can I still come to learn?
We all have to start somewhere on this path. Some of us grew up in the church and have attended since we were a baby. Most of us have come to know more about God later in our lives. We have a mix of people that attend JCC and that’s what is so exciting about attending here - we all work on it together. It’s a great place to come and ask questions, learn and grow, all while you make wonderful friends!
How should I dress to attend your church?
You will see it all at JCC - we don’t care how you dress, we’re just happy to have you join us as we learn about Jesus and praise the Lord each week. Suit and tie, dresses, blue jeans, shorts, sweats and crocs are all on display most weeks!
I’ve had some real troubles in life and made a lot of mistakes - I’m no “super Christian” by any means. Would I be welcome at your church, or are you going to be “judgy”?
You absolutely will be welcome. We believe that’s what church is all about - being a safe place for broken lives as they find their way back to Jesus. We all have a story, and most times it is not a fun or exciting one to tell. Most of the time it involves heartache or loss, making poor choices, or getting lost along the way. It won’t take you long to see that folks that attend JCC are all trying to figure out who Jesus is too, how He can help them, and what it looks like to serve Him. We are friendly and inviting. We won’t judge you, we’ll come alongside you when you are ready. We aren’t a huge megachurch, but we have big hearts and want to help each other!
